You can manually expand your storage space in the Swarm by attaching an external drive to your Cubbit Cell, using the USB port on the side of the Cell. In this early stage of the feature, there are two important things to keep in mind:
- We currently support 1 directly connected external drive per Cell, but we will be developing and testing the possibility to add more in the future!
- At this time we do not support the use of USB hubs or drives that are managed by third party software/hardware setups (for example, it is not possible to attach a RAID array or NAS device to the Cubbit Cell USB port). It is OK to use a standard drive in a SATA to USB external enclosure though!
How does it work?
Simply attach an external drive (such as an external hard drive or USB flash drive) to the USB port on the Cubbit Cell. Then, open the Cubbit desktop application on your computer where you will find a notification leading you through the process to format your drive and use it to increase your cloud space!
