2FA is a two-step authentication process used when attempting to access a website or online service that requires users enter both their account password and use a secondary authentication method. Want to learn more? Check out our article: What is two-factor authentication? A definition.
Before proceeding we will ask you to install an application that generates a unique authentication code each time you login to Cubbit. We recommend the following: Google or Microsoft Authenticator, Authy, 1Password, Last Pass Authenticator but there are others as well.
Step 1: Sign in to the Cubbit Hatch web application and enter your credentials
Step 2: Click on your username in the top right
Step 3: Click on Profile
Step 4: Select the Privacy tab
Step 5: Click on Enable in the 2-factor authentication section
Step 6: Insert your current password for verification when asked, then click on Next
Step 7: A new window will appear with some further information, read it completely and then select Setup using an App
Step 8: The window with the recovery codes will appear. You can copy or download the file to your computer. Save these codes somewhere safe! Each of these 10 recovery codes can be used once to access the application if your phone is unavailable and cannot receive a 2FA code. Once saved, click on Next.
Step 9: A new window will appear where you need to scan the QR code with your Authenticator Application, this will create a unique six-digit code. Scan the QR code in the window with your application to receive the code.
You will receive a six-digit code like the one below:
Step 10: Enter the six-digit code in the Cubbit web application, then click on Enable.
Step 11: Enjoy an extra layer of security! You have now enabled 2FA for your Cubbit account. You will receive an email in your inbox as confirmation as well as a notification in the application.
Logging in with 2FA: When logging into your desktop or web application again, you will see a screen like the one below where you will need to enter a 2FA code from your application or you can choose to use 1 of your 10 single-use recovery codes if your phone is unavailable.
Disabling 2FA: If you wish to disable 2FA, you can do so by going back to the Privacy panel in the web application and clicking Disable.
