⚠️ This article is not for Cubbit DS3 users. It is for private Cubbit Cell and/or Cubbit Cloud users.
Here you will find information related to File Management.
What would you like to know?
- File encryption
- File deletion
- Uploading files via FTP, SFTP or WebDav
- File tagging
- Simultaneous file access
- File quality and compression methods.
Can I encrypt a file somehow myself before using your app thus obtaining a double encryption?
This all depends on the encryption you use and which client you use. If you encrypt it, Cubbit can't read it, so after you encrypt and upload the new file, when it is downloaded (e.g. to another system) it may be completely unrecognisable (or cause errors in the transfer).
If you delete a file by mistake on the web app, can you restore it?
We have no trash feature or restore option at the moment (but it is being developed)!
Depending on the specific situation, if the user doesn't have a second backup we can attempt to recover the deleted files from support.
Is there a possibility to access Cubbit (& Cell) via WebDav, SFTP, FTP or as a backup server?
The only way into the Swarm is through the software - nothing can connect directly with our Cell but your authenticated phone/computer with the app. This is because we need to make sure the transfers go through our security and redundancy protocols and are not sent straight to the Cell as individual, full files (as this could also be harmful malware, virus, etc.).
Can I add tags to files in Cubbit?
You can add tags to files in the Cubbit folder but the tags won’t be synchronized to the Swarm and are lost when the file is downloaded again.
If the same file is opened from two different locations, what happens? Is the second user warned that the file has been opened?
One file can be opened simultaneously on multiple computers.
There is not a warning saying the file is already opened and the file that ends up in the Swarm is the one that was most recently saved.
Do files uploaded to Cubbit and shared with others keep their quality and integrity?
We do not downgrade quality of any files, images, audio or video. We do not apply any compression on files, so the files should be perfect and maintain their integrity and quality at 100%.
